Dear ARA Members,

Our next ARA luncheon will be held Friday, June 26th, in the Alcon Crossroads Conference Center (old cafeteria) starting at 11:30am. I am pleased to announce that our speaker will be Abe Clark, PhD, Regents Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience and Medical Education. He is also the Founding Director of the North Texas Eye Research Institute at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Clark’s topic will be “Handling the pressure: discovering the causes of glaucoma and developing new disease modifying treatments”.  Many of you may know Dr. Clark since he worked at Alcon for 23 years and was the Vice President of Discovery Research and Head of Glaucoma Research. 

His research has been focused on the discovery of molecular pathogenic pathways for glaucomatous damage to the eye to develop novel disease modifying therapies for the treatment of glaucoma, the leading cause of irreversible vision loss and blindness. Dr. Clark’s laboratory has discovered both small molecules, gene therapies, and genome editing therapies that prevent glaucoma damage to the eye and vision centers of the brain. Dr. Clark collaborates with numerous investigators around the world to perform interdisciplinary and translational research.

If you are bringing a guest, include their name when you RSVP. If they aren’t riding with you, please include their name, email and phone number to facilitate their entry on campus.

The luncheon is free for members and $!0 for guests.  If you haven’t paid your $10 dues for 2026, you can pay in cash or check when you sign in or send your check to:

Parking

Parking spaces will be reserved with orange cones. Golf carts will be available to take those who need assistance to the Crossroads Conference Center and back to the parking lot after the program.
